1st Vice President

We had our annual General Meeting on June 27th.   This was the first General Meeting that I led.  I am sorry that it lasted longer than it normally does.  However, there was a lot to be said.

We started with I. D. Freed having the honor of giving the D’var Torah.

·         “Vision without action is hallucination.

o   With some modifications it was approved.

Thank you Randy for a job well done.

The worship committee  report presented by Cantor Patti:

·         We now have the new Prayer Books.

·         A pot luck dinner before services, once a month, 1st Friday. and “Friday Night Live” with Craig Taubman's recorded music and…

·         Joel leads the Shabbat services the 2nd Friday of each month.

·         Maybe something different on the 5th Friday

·         We are still doing our Torah study classes on Saturdays.

·         High Holidays will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn  in Addison this year.

·         We are looking for ways to improve our attendance on Friday nights.

Thank you Patti for your many contributions.

Care Committee presented by Kathy Friedberg:

·         We lost 2 this past year; Marty Howard (former member) and Herm Silver.  Both were very active;

o   We had the Sukkah built in Marty and Nancy’s backyard for many years.

o   Marty was in charge of the construction of the finish out of our building on Wayonka.  And he also served on our Board.

o   Herm played Elijah for one Passover Seder.

o   He had his 2nd Bar Mitzvah and read his original speech.

o   He also served on the Board for a long time.

·         We deciced that when someone is listed in the Care Committee report, if their phone number is listed, we all need to call them.

                                    Kathy did a great job.

Community Activities:

·         we have already participated in the first planning meeting for the Federation’s  Mitzvah Day (the Federation’s 100th birthday – next year.)

ORGANIZATION:

·         We decided to remain as a URJ congregation and we are looking for ways to grow.

·         We will get our 501c3 soon.

·         We had election of our 2010 -2011 Board.
